50 in 50 Challenge coming in for a landing!
LightHawk's inaugural 50 in 50 Challenge took flight June 15. With only a couple of days left, we're excited to bring this challenge in for a smooth landing. Thanks to all of the volunteer pilots who have flown during the challenge for your support and generosity!
This groundbreaking initiative has put more conservation flights in the air over 50 days than ever before, covering diverse ecosystems and addressing urgent conservation issues all across the country. We could not have done it with all of you. Thank you for being part of the conservation flying community and for joining us on this first-of-its-kind aviation challenge!

Mission of the Month: Documenting transmission line's impact on the land

Earlier this month, LightHawk took to the sky with conservation partner Archeology Southwest. The flight aimed to assess the SunZia transmission line and document its impacts on cultural and natural resources. Volunteer pilot Michael Schroeder provided the flight for seven passengers to gain an aerial perspective on the issue.

Photo of the Month

Photo by Rena Olson, Oregon Shores
This month’s photo of the month comes from photographer Rena Olson on a flight with conservation partner Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition. The flight along the state’s south coast aimed to provide photographic support to Oregon Beaches Forever, a campaign that is a partnership between the coalition and the Surfrider Foundation. The campaign’s goal is to launch a statewide conversation about the long-term future of the state’s beaches and shoreline habitats, caught between sea-level rise and shoreline armoring and other development in hazardous areas. LightHawk thanks volunteer pilot Jane Rosevelt for donating this flight.
