Learn More About Donor Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund is a giving account you open through a sponsoring organization, like a community foundation or financial firm. You contribute cash, stock, or other assets, get a tax deduction right away, and recommend grants to LightHawk and other charities over time.

You open a DAF and contribute assets, qualifying for a tax deduction the year you give. Your sponsoring organization invests the funds, and whenever you’re ready, you recommend a grant to LightHawk. There’s no deadline, so you can support us again and again from the same account.

A DAF lets you give now and decide later, keep your giving organized in one place and grow your contribution tax-free while it waits to be granted. Many donors also use a DAF to give anonymously or build a lasting family tradition of giving.
