New Leadership

March 21, 2014

After an extensive search, LightHawk's Board of Directors has selected John Pryor to be our next executive director.

John is an experienced pilot and lives in Telluride, Colorado. He has strong experience in business, finance, fundraising, and leadership. He has served on numerous boards and understands the business of conservation.

"I feel honored to have been chosen as LightHawk's next executive director, and I am excited to bring my diverse combination of skills, background and passions to this unique conservation organization," John says. "LightHawk is at an inflection point in its long history and I look forward to working collaboratively with the dedicated staff, volunteer pilots and board to chart a course that will enable us to 'move the needle' for conservation in even greater ways."

Beginning in April, John will succeed Rudy Engholm who has been LightHawk's executive director for the past seven years. We have been extremely fortunate to have Rudy's guidance at LightHawk. His tenure has been rooted in a faithful commitment to LightHawk and its staff. We now welcome John and look forward to his energy and leadership as he guides LightHawk into the future.

"I have offered to stay on," Rudy says, "to foster a gracious transition following my retirement and ensure continuing relationships with the extraordinary people who make up the extended LightHawk community."

With this change, we can also expect Rudy to become more active as a volunteer pilot, donating missions to benefit the woods, water and wildlife he cares so much about.
