By collaborating with LightHawk, those working to protect watersheds can survey their course from source to sea in a short period of time. This perspective fosters a better understanding of the activities nearby that impact water quality, and provides solutions to better manage and monitor important watersheds.
Assateague Coastkeeper Kathy Phillips calls on LightHawk so that she can gain knowledge about activities in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. She says, “Routine aerial monitoring is an important component of my watershed patrols. My watershed is heavily forested and has extensive marshlands making it difficult to observe interior areas from roadways or the water.” Read more about this unique partnership and the challenging airspace volunteer pilots must navigate here.
